Regarding the time of Pervaiz Elahi's PA trust vote, PTI adjusts its stance.

Ex-PM Imran Khan requests party leaders to work with Moonis to ensure the necessary numbers are met as Imran backtracks on his threat to quit the Punjab Assembly in bulk

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has altered his mind and decided to postpone the vote of confidence in the Punjab Assembly, which will be handled by Chief Minister Parvez Elahi, pending the resolution of the legal dispute surrounding the governor's order.

Contrary to what he had previously claimed, Mr. Khan opted not to call a vote of confidence before the Lahore High Court hearing on January 11. On Saturday, a decision was taken.
In an attempt to convince Mr. Elahi, the PTI chairman sent a delegation to the chief minister's residence on December 24. However, Moonis Elahi, the PML-Q leader and a former federal minister, requested that the PTI chairman wait for the court order.

The Punjab Chief Minister argued, like Imran Khan, that the governor's decision violated the law and the Constitution and that approving it through a vote of confidence would practically ratify it.

The former premier objected to the assertion and declared that, in the case that challenges emerged in the assembly's dissolution, he would request the resignation of every MPA from his party.

Irrational advice

During a consultative meeting with the Punjab ministers on Saturday at his Zaman Park residence, the former prime minister discussed the political climate and it appears he came to the conclusion that his advisors were not giving him "sane counsel" over the trust vote. The trust vote would not be on the assembly's agenda for its meeting on January 9, it was agreed. Sources claim Mr. Khan was advised that January 11 was not a "decision day" but rather the beginning of the hearing on the petition challenging the trust vote and CM Elahi's resignation.

Sources suggest that Mr. Khan was upset about having to retract his statements, but he also agreed with the provincial cabinet members that a widespread resignation would not solve the issue. The majority of the Punjab cabinet, according to the sources, thought that the PTI should continue to be in power and keep calling for new elections in order to provide the circumstances for political and economic stability in the country.

"The PTI should not chose to accept mass resignations," a PTI insider said. According to the source, it was also determined to dissolve the PA in a way that would force the government and the Election Commission to schedule general elections.

Conclusion:

Due to the economic issues, some ministers advised Mr. Khan to depart the administration at the end of this month. The ministers advised PTI to stay away from the corridors of power rather than take responsibility for the wrongdoings of the PDM government and the ruling class because Pakistan was on the edge of default.

Asserting that the PTI should resign from the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies as soon as possible, Mr. Khan urged his party's officials and members to get ready for and conduct thorough preparations for the upcoming general elections.
